"People have been fascinated by fire since the first humans came out of their caves (historical accuracy: questionable) But setting another human being on fire... that's crazy, isn't it?

Not if you're a trained fire player! In truth, fire can be a powerful tool for delivering sensations ranging from soft warmth to intense pain. It can be used to evoke primal fear, or provide a comforting intimacy.

Longtime pyromaniac Kanin will be presenting a comprehensive workshop at the RKS dungeon, teaching you about a variety of fire play topics covering tool design, fuels, safety, and the techniques used to turn you into a modern Prometheus (warning: defending yourself from eagles is not covered.)

This workshop will feature an extensive hands-on learning portion, so if you have a portable massage table, please bring it with you.

Included with the $15 workshop fee is a basic fire play kit (two fire batons, a fuel container, fuel, and a towel.) Supplies of these kits are limited, so please RSVP to ensure availability! If you prefer to use your own fireplay kit, bring it for a $10 discount off the workshop fee.

BDSM 101: An Introduction to the Scene

This discussion style workshop focuses on acronyms, safety, etiquette, negotiations, consent and more. This has been a very popular RKS offering. This class is great whether you are new to the scene or if you just want a refresher!

CPR and First Aid Training

June 23 from 12:00 to 17:00. Cost: $60 per person.

FrozenMeursault will be offering a classes that provide nationally recognized certifications valid for 2 years following the completion of these classes in both First Aid and CPR. The workshop will run from noon to five; following a dinner break will be another workshop and play party.

The fee is $60/person, or $50/person if we get 16 people or more. Class size is limited to 40 people, so please pre-pay or RSVP to rsvp@RochesterKinkSociety.com.

First Aid

This class provides a nationally recognized certification valid for 2 years following the completion of the 3-4 hour class. Covered will be basic medical emergencies, how to protect yourself from bodily fluids, controlling bleeding, alleviating choking, treating burns, and a variety of other skills and ideas important to first aid. At the conclusion of the class you will have had hands on experience with some common problems and should be ready to intervene in an emergency until responders arrive. No previous experience needed. We will move at the pace of the class to ensure everyone is comfortable.

CPR/AED

This class provides a nationally recognized certification valid for 2 years following the completion of the 2-3 hour class. Adult, child, and infant CPR, Automatic External Defibrillator usage, and alleviating choking will be covered and students will actually preform these skills. In addition several methods of rescue breathing for a distressed person with a pulse will be taught and preformed. No previous experience needed. We will move at the pace of the class to ensure everyone is comfortable.

This class will be followed by a second class, Anatomy for DMs, starting at 7 PM and that will be followed by a bonus party open to all current RKS DMs and anyone who takes either class. Party til midnight!

About FrozenMeursault

I have 5 years experience in emergency medicine and am a CPR/1st Aid instructor as well as an instructor for advanced medical providers in resuscitation and trauma care. I have comforted people as they died and been with people as they brought new life in to our world. I have no illusions about my knowledge and skills and always strive to expand both. My approach to care and instruction is based on honestly and clarity as well as passion and compassion. Ultimately we are all in this together and you may end up saving my life one day. As an instructor/presenter I strive to use different methods to make classes enjoyable, interactive, memorable and beneficial to all different learning styles. My tools range from videos, PowerPoints, demos, workshops, hand outs, to just plain good presentation skills with a dash of humor. The kink itself should be the painful stuff, not learning about it!

I make no claim about being a kink expert and my classes are heavily based on my knowledge and experience as a medical provider. I will gladly take input from the more experienced kinksters in our community regarding your practices. The things I present as fact are not my opinions but based on the mainstream medical and scientific community and where there is debate within those communities I will gladly provide that as well.

Regular/Ongoing Events

Munch and Social

Opportunities for the Rochester BDSM community to get together, socialize, and meet new people. You do not need to be an RKS member to visit, and you do not need pre-approval to come– please stop in anytime. Both events are free– just cover your own food and drink. The social is usually at 19:00 on the first Thursday of the month at California Brew Haus, whereas the munch is usually the third Sunday at 14:30 at Jay's Diner.

In-House Social

The "in-house social" is a monthly chance for RKS members to gather for non-BDSM activities. Come out and practice rope, share conversation, play games, do yoga, make some crafts or something else entirely! However, since there are no dungeon monitors on duty there is no scening. A donation of $5 or the equivalent in snacks/beverages is requested.

Play Parties

Twice-monthly parties held at the RKS dungeon. Parties involve socializing, playing, watching. People often demonstrate their toys or techniques to others who are interested. Parties are generally scheduled on the second Saturday and the last Saturday of the month at 20:00. They are often preceded by workshops.

First Friday

Rotating events that have an niche appeal are held the first Friday each month at the dungeon. These include:

• Photo parties: play parties where camera use is allowed (by permission only).
• Quiet play nights: parties with more mellow music and a relaxed atmosphere conducive to intimate scenes such as shibari, bootblacking, massage (please bring your own sheets and towels), waxing.
• Slumber parties.
• TNG (the next generation) or Kink Classic events.
• Other niche special events.

Rope Night

Rope Night is an opportunity to learn and practice rope skills. Those attending should try to arrange a partner ahead of time, but are welcome to try their luck at pairing off if other singles attend. Attendees are asked to bring their own rope, although there is a limited amount of rope available at the space for those who don't have any. Recommended rope types is nylon, cotton, or hemp; 6–8mm (1/4″–5/16″) diameter (number and ideal lengths varies by session).

Rope night runs roughly 3 hours per session as follows:

1. At 19:00, discussion about the sub topic.
2. Review and practice 1 tie from the previous month.
3. Learn and practice 3 new ties relating to the main topic.
4. Practical use of 1 tie learned that night by everyone.

Movie Night

Monthly movies at the RKS dungeon on the third Friday each month, at 20:00. There are no guest fees for attending the movie, though we encourage you to contribute some snacks or soda. Movie Night is a collaborative effort of RKS, which provides the space, and RAD, which plans and staffs the event.

Cleaning & Work parties

Monthly dungeon cleaning, maintenance, and improvement. Times vary; check the calendar for upcoming times when when you can pitch in.

Board meetings

Organizational meetings for RKS, which occur at 18:30 on the second and fourth Tuesday each month. Members are welcome to attend and provide their input at these meetings.

For those that unable to attend, minutes of meetings are posted to RKS' private Yahoo mailing list a few days after meetings.
